how long should my botox last?
This post is for you if you're considering neurotoxins for the first time or if you are one of our forever clients that have been around the block! One of our favorite parts about tox is that when it wears off, you just move again! It is not like a nail fill or highlights that have grown out, you just go back to regular movement! You can dip your toe in the water without a lifetime commitment!
You may be wondering: How long should my Botox last? At our Akron, Ohio med spa we believe that informed and educated clients are happy clients. So, we'll walk you through the typical timeline of Botox results, how to maintain your youthful look, and tips for making your results last longer. Cause it’s all about anti-aging!
What Is Botox and How Does It Work?
Botox is a purified form of botulinum toxin that works by temporarily relaxing targeted facial muscles. This helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and dynamic wrinkles, especially in areas like:
Forehead lines
Crow’s feet (around the eyes)
Glabellar lines (between the eyebrows, also known as “11s”)
Bunny Lines: Lines on the sides of your nose
Smokers lines: the barcode lines above the top lip.
Chin dimples
Neck lift
Underarms for sweating
Traps
And more!
Our clients love them some Botox and it is one of the most popular non-surgical anti-aging treatments because it’s quick, minimally invasive, and highly effective. Botox is one brand of neurotoxins but we also offer Dysport and Jeaveau which we always explain are like coke and pepsi. They all do the say thing but it’s all about which one your body likes the best!
So, How Long Does Botox Last?
This is probably our most common question and the answer unfortunately can vary from client to client, but in general, Botox results should last you anywhere between 3 to 4 months. But there are several factors that can affect this:
Your body’s metabolism: Faster metabolisms may process the toxin quicker.
Muscle activity: Areas with more frequent movement may see shorter-lasting results.
Dosage and placement: Proper technique and dosing by a trained provider matter greatly.
First-time users vs repeat users: Results may last slightly less with your first treatment, but regular users often notice longer-lasting effects over time.
What to Expect After Your Botox Treatment
Typical Timeline of Results:d
Day 1–3: Minimal visible change. Avoid heavy exercise and alcohol.
Day 4–7: Noticeable muscle relaxation begins.
Day 7–14: Full results are visible. Wrinkles appear smoother, and the skin looks more refreshed. This 14 day mark is the key and we educate our patients that we will not touch up or add any more product until after this 14 day mark! We don’t want to over do it, we can always add more but we can’t take it away once it is in!
Botox Maintenance: How Often Should You Get Treated?
To maintain optimal results, we generally recommend re-dosing every 3 to 4 months. For some clients, results can last up to 5 months, especially after multiple treatments.
Tips for Extending Your Botox Results:
Schedule maintenance sessions before your full results wear off.
Follow all post-care instructions from your injector.
Avoid excessive sun exposure and wear SPF daily.
Minimize alcohol, smoking, and stress—these accelerate skin aging.
Use high-quality skincare products that support skin health and hydration.
We also pride ourselves on the fact that all of our injectors at our spa are Nurse Practitioners and they will tailor every Botox treatment plan to your facial anatomy and aesthetic goals. We use only FDA-approved Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, and Daxxify and follow advanced injection techniques to ensure natural-looking, long-lasting results.
