acne actives we love!

Acne, acne, acne…the bane of our existence!  It seems like more and more are struggling with it and at all different ages.  At our Akron, Ohio med spa we see people as young as in their teens all the way to middle age and beyond that come in with issues regarding acne.

It seems to be something that is a lot more common these days, with a multitude of factors that play into it.  But no need to fear we are here for you and want to offer you some skincare solutions we have seen work for people over the years.

At Modern Vitality we play around a lot with our skincare choices.  Whether that be using different “actives” or mixing and matching across our favorite skincare lines.  Our favorites to use for acne are ZO Skin Health & Face Reality.

Using different skincare “actives” is beneficial for acne because it allows you to target multiple causes of breakouts at once. Acne isn’t caused by just one issue unfortunately—it can come from excess oil, clogged pores, inflammation, or bacteria.

For example, some ingredients we love to use are things like salicylic acid which helps unclog pores, benzoyl peroxide that helps to kill acne-causing bacteria, niacinamide that reduces redness and strengthens the skin barrier, and retinoids that will increase cell turnover to prevent future breakouts.

By combining some of these actives (at the right strengths and not all at once), you can treat current acne, prevent future breakouts, and improve overall skin texture and clarity over time.  These are some more examples of things we use and what we use them for!  They are great things that you as the consumer can look out for when buying your skincare.
